Music composer A R Rahman made his comeback to Sandalwood with the audio for the film Godfather, which is the remake of the Ajith-starrer Varalaaru.
Albeit the composer has used most of the tracks from the original and composed just two new tunes, Sandalwood is excited that he lent his time for a big Kannada film, which stars Upendra.
Producer K Manju says, "We were to have launched the audio on May 31 at a gala event to be held at the Palace Grounds in Bangalore. But, the Bharat Bandh played spoilsport to our plans. But, to our good luck, Rahman found time for us, allowing us to have our audio launch."
The launch was to have the five top Kannada composers - Hamsaleka, Gurukiran, V Manohar, Arjun Janya and V Harikrishna - present to welcome the composer. "Rahman has composed two new tunes and re-mastered tunes from the Tamil original soundtrack. He's also been an active part of the re-recording," says Manju.
Rahman even took less than half of what he usually takes for this project we hear. "He just took ` 1.5 crore for his work," says our source. This is Rahman's second project in Kannada, where he is credited as composer. He previously composed music for the film Sajini, where he had used tunes from his Tamil film Jodi in the soundtrack.
