Airtel Digital TV on boards DD Network’s four HD channels

Bharti Airtel owned direct-to-home (DTH) service provider Airtel Digital TV (ADTV) has widened its channel lineup with the addition of Doordarshan’s four HD channels on 1st February 2025, along with the addition of Sansad TV 1 HD on the previous day.

In accordance to the notification issued by the Indian government’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on 31st January 2025, ADTV has added DD National HD, DD Sports HD, DD News HD, DD India HD as well as Sansad TV 1 HD on its platform. The channels are available on the following LCNs-

• DD National HD- LCN 153
• DD Sports HD- LCN 302
• DD News HD- LCN 372
• DD India HD- LCN 401
• Sansad TV 1 HD- LCN 375

Prasar Bharati’s Doordarshan launched DD National HD on 1st April 2017. Though the channel wasn’t available on any major DTHs, some MSOs carried the channel. Eventually the channel was added on the network’s very own DTH platform DD Free Dish on LCN 113 in MPEG-4 format. Further, DD News HD and DD India HD were launched on 1st December 2018 and on 3rd October 2020 on DD Free Dish. The network launched India’s first free-to-air HD sports channel DD Sports HD on 2nd September 2023.

On 9th November 2023, Tata Play became the first private DTH to on board DD Sports HD on LCN 452 followed by the addition of both DD National HD and DD India HD on LCN 196 and LCN 621 on 1st December 2023 respectively.

With the addition of the above mentioned HD channels, Airtel Digital TV becomes the second DTH after Tata Play to do so. However, other DTH platforms haven’t on boarded the channels yet and is expected to be available soon as per MIB’s notification.

Overall, with the addition of Doordarshan’s HD on its platform, Airtel Digital TV has broadened its HD channel lineup by holding 100 HD channels, which totals to 713 channels including 613 SD channels.
