Airtel-Xstream

On 6th August DreamDTH first reported that Airtel is going to launch Xstream Stick for its Digital TV customers to watch OTT content and on 7th August we reported that Airtel has renamed the Airtel TV app as Airtel Xstream. Now Airtel Xstream app (earlier called Airtel TV) is integrated with Airtel Xstream Smart Stick. For this new service, Airtel has also launched a separate Customer Care portal.

Xstream Smart Stick

Similar to Fire TV Stick Airtel Xstream Smart Stick will be inserted in an HDMI port and the Smart stick will take power independently from a power source. It will run on Android. Airtel will launch Xstream Plans which can be selected easily through the Xstream app, without that plan no content can be accessed on Smart Stick. However, Airtel customers on any eligible plan of Broadband, Postpaid, or DTH don’t need to purchase any Xstream Plan. Airtel will also bundle Xstream to some plans of DTH, Broadband, and Postpaid, which means that customers on these plans will get Airtel Xstream Smart Stick for free of cost without any separate subscription to the Xstream plan.

This Xstream Stick has Chromecast support to play the content on a big screen. The remote of this Xstream Smart Stick will have a dedicated Google Assistant button with a microphone to search for your favorite shows easily just by voice. Using Voice users could search for any content across all installed apps at once.

UPI cannot be used for any of these plans.

Airtel will provide subscriptions to Eros Now, HOOQ, Hoichoi, ALTBalaji, and Hungama through the Airtel Xstream app while the subscription to Zee5 will be provided separately and users have to use the Zee5 app to access its content. With one Airtel Xstream subscription users can connect and use up to 3 Xstream Smart Sticks.
