ABP News Network’s Gujarati news channel debuts on DTH

ABP News Network’s Gujarati news channel ABP Asmita has expanded its distribution footprint to direct-to-home (DTH) platforms. The free-to-air (FTA) encrypted channel has launched on DTH operators Tata Sky and Videocon d2h.

ABP Asmita is already available on leading multi-system operators (MSOs) including GTPL Hathway, which is the dominant MSO in the state.

“We are launching on DTH platforms Tata Sky and Videocon d2h. The two platforms have the maximum share in Gujarat. We are in talks with other DTH platforms also,” said an ABP News Network official.

The channel was officially launched on 18 February in Ahmedabad by former Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel.

ABP Asmita is the fourth channel from ABP News Network. Other channels include ABP News (Hindi), ABP Majha (Marathi) and ABP Jalsha (Bengali).

As per BARC ratings for the week ended 21 October, TV9 Gujarati was the dominant player in the Gujarati news genre, followed by Sandesh News and ABP Asmita. ETV News Gujarati was at the fourth position.
