Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has decided to
connect online with his millions of admirers on
his 72nd birthday this weekend.
The unique initiative has been launched by
micro-blogging site Twitter and Fluence, India's
leading Celebrity Digital media network which
connects celebrities with their fans and brands
through their digital presence.
"Every year on my birthday I am overwhelmed
by love and affection that I receive from my
fans, from across the world. This year with the
help of Twitter and Fluence, I have found this
unique way to reciprocate the love, even
though the message is communicated through
a digital medium for me it is as personal as
wishing each individual myself," Bachchan said
in a statement.
Bachchan, fondly known as Big B on social-
media circuits, has fan following ranging from
various age groups with more than 30 million
people following him across social media
platforms including Facebook, Twitter and
Tumblr.
"Mr Bachchan is the most followed person on
Twitter in India and he has been setting
standards in using Twitter to connect with fans
in real-time and sharing his voice on the
platform.
"We are delighted to host his birthday
celebration on Twitter and bring a new
experience to his millions of fans and
followers," said Rishi Jaitly, Market Director,
South and Southeast Asia at Twitter.
The birthday of 'Bhoothnath Returns' star will
be marked as a day of celebration on social
media and to give all his fans sufficient time
to greet their superstar on his special day. This
activity will be on for five days, starting from
today to October 11.
Bachchan's fan just needs to send him
hashtag #AB72Wishes for digitally signed
poster and the lucky one will receive a video
message from the actor.
"Mr Bachchan is one of India's most loved
stars, the love and devotion he inspires in his
fans is unprecedented," said Ashish Joshi, VP
Digital & Business Head - Fluence, adding it
was Big B's way of thanking "his millions of
fans for their love and affection."
