Amos 4 to launch on 31 August

Gaza, Alray - Spacecom, operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, announced that Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) scheduled to launch AMOS-4 satellite next Saturday 31 Aug, Israeli Media sources reported.

Spacecom previously announced that the IAI has selected Space International Services, Ltd. (SIS) to launch the AMOS-4 commercial satellite. The launch is scheduled to take place in 2013 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

The company reported that the satellite will offer customers Direct-To-Home (DTH), video distribution, VSAT communications, and broadband Internet services with multiple Ku- and Ka-band transponders, but media sources explained that Israel will use it to collect intelligence information about Iran and Syria.

According to AMOS site the satellite's weight at launch will be approximately 3.4 tons. AMOS 4 will carry a large number of transponders in high power Ka and Ku bands. AMOS-4, located around the 64ºE to 76ºE orbital slot, broadens the range of markets Spacecom can reach and the number of potential clients the company can serve. Spacecom's current constellation includes AMOS 1 and AMOS 2 operating at 4ºW, an orbital position it will share with AMOS 3 when the satellite launches in early 2008.

When AMOS-4 comes online, Spacecom will reach close to 80 percent of the world's population. :c

Although it has only 8 Ku-band TPs. But each of them are of 108 Mhz.

So 8x108 Mhz total capacity is there.
If we calculate in terms of Indian capacity, it can be 24 Tps of 36 Mhz each.

So, virtually... this satellite is having 24 Ku band Tps.
But only has India beam.. having coverage for India, but it remains to be seen.. if we'll see any channels on it. :sp
