BARC Ratings: Big Magic Ganga becomes No.1 among Bhojpuri channels

In week 2 (January 9-15, 2016) of the BARC Ratings, Sun TV fetched the highest ratings of 1070 million across all the regional channels in week 2 of 2016. Big Magic Ganga replaced Bhojpuri Cinema to be the No.1 among the Bhojpuri channels. Among the Kannada channels, Udaya TV replaced Udaya Movies to be the second most viewed channel. ETV Telugu, Zee Marathi, Star Jalsha and Asianet let their markets of Telengana/Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai/Goa, West Bengal and Kerala respectively.

Sun TV garnered the maximum ratings of 1070 million across all the regional channels again. Also, the channel witnessed a rise in the ratings from 1046 million in week 1. KTV, at No.2, had 303 million ratings, less than previous week’s 277 million. Star Vijay with 220 million ratings stood at No.3. The channel had 181 million ratings in week 52. Polimer remained at No.4 with 98 million ratings. Kalaignar came back in the list replacing J TV and acquire the fifth spot with 84 million ratings.

In the Bihar and Jharkhand markets (C&S 1lakh+), Big Magic Ganga replaced Bhojpuri Cinema to acquire the No.1 position. The channel fetched 19 million ratings, more than the previous week’s 17 million. Bhojpuri Cinema lost some eyeballs and garnered 14 million ratings which were 19 million in week 1.Dabangg garnered 9 million ratings and stood at No.3. Dangal TV with a consistent rating of 7 million stood at No.4. ETV Bihar Jharkhand garnered 3 million ratings, less than previous week’s 4 million and stood at No.5.

In the Karnataka market, Colors Kannada garnered 282 million ratings, more than 276 million in week 1, and continued to be the most viewed channel in the second week also. Udaya Movies which was at No.2 last week after taking a leap from the fourth spot in week 1 was replaced by Udaya TV, the latter garnered 167 million ratings, higher than week 1’s 140 million. The former came down to No.3 as it witnessed a fall in the ratings from 154 million to 152 million. Zee Kannada which had slipped down to the fifth spot in week 1 gained from 133 million to 146 million and bounced back to the fourth spot in week 2. slipped down to the fifth spot as the channel saw a decline in the ratings from 143 million to Although Suvarna saw a rise in the ratings from 134 million to 137 million, it came down to No.5.

In the Maharashtra market (Maharashtra/Goa markets C&S 1lakh+), Zee Marathi garnered 171 million ratings, higher than last week’s 165 million, and stood at No.1. Colors Marathi was replaced by Zee Talkies at the second spot as the channel saw an increase in the ratings from 66 million to 91 million. Colors Marathi came down to No.3 as it saw a decline in the ratings from 93 million to 83 million. Star Pravah with 41 million ratings stood at No.4. Maiboli fetched 23 million ratings and stood at No.5.

Among the Malyalam channels, Asianet remained to be the No.1 channel with 394 million ratings. The channel had 378 million ratings in week 1. Mazhavil Manorama stood at No.2 and saw a further fall in the ratings from 99 million to 91 million. Flowers TV gained in viewership ratings from 73 million in the previous week and climbed to the third spot in week 2 with 83 million ratings. Asianet Movies which was at No.5 the previous week also saw a hike in the ratings from 52 million to 59 million and stood at No.4. Surya TV saw a massive downfall in ratings from 74 million in week 1 to 55 million in week 2. Hence, the channel came down to No.5 from No.3, in week 1.

Among the Telugu channels (Andhra Pradesh/Telangana markets C&S 1lakh+), ETV Telugu continued to be the topmost channel third week in a row. The channel garnered 416 million ratings which was 413 million in week 1. Maa TV remained at No.2 with 413 million ratings, higher than previous week’s 373 million ratings. Zee Telugu witnessed a rise in the ratings from 359 million ratings to 390 million and stood at No.3. Gemini TV also saw a rise in the ratings from 281 million to 386 million and stood at No.4.

In the Odisha market, Sarthak TV witnessed a decline in the ratings from 109 million to 106 million but stood at No.1. Tarang TV with 72 million ratings, higher than previous week’s 61 million, stood at no.2. Colors Oriya remained at No.3 with 21 million ratings, higher than previous week’s 18 million. Odisha TV garnered 13 million ratings, less than week 1’s 17 million and remained at No.4. Prameya News 7 pushed Prarthana out of the list and acquired the fifth spot with 11 million ratings.

In the West Bengal market, Star Jalsha garnered 233 million ratings, less than previous week’s 240 million ratings and remained to be the No.1 channel. Zee Bangla saw a rise in the ratings from 153 million to 175 million and continued to be the second most viewed channel in week 2 of this year. Jalsha Movies stood at No.3 this week also and garnered 57 million ratings, less than previous week’s 65 million. Zee Bangla Cinema garnered 34 million ratings and stood at No.4. Colors Bangla stood at No.5 with 29 million ratings.
