Bhaskar News makes two senior-level elevations

MUMBAI: DP Agarwal Publication-owned Hindi news channel Bhaskar News has promoted Rahul Mahajan and Samir Abbas to editor and CEO and senior executive editor of the channel respectively.

Mahajan was earlier the consulting editor of the channel while Abbas was the executive editor.

Mahajan has more than 15 years’ experience in television journalism. Prior to Bhaskar News, he was the programming head of News24. He also had stints in ABP News, Aaj Tak and Zee News.
Abbas, on the other hand, has been in TV journalism for more than a decade.

He started his career with India TV before moving to IBN7 where he spent almost nine years as anchor and associate executive producer.

Noida-headquartered Bhaskar News was launched in August. Rahul Mittal is the editor-in-chief and managing director of the channel.

The channel has bureaus in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Jammu Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh.

It also boasts an international bureau in the US.
Dainik Bhaskar Group founder Dwarka Prasad Agarwal’s daughter Hemlata Agarwal is the chairperson of DP Agarwal Publications.

The company’s long-term plan is to launch seven regional channels along with an English News channel.
