Hiro, Baymax, and the rest of the "Big Hero 6" team will be back in 2017 — but this time on a smaller screen.

"Big Hero 6" will air on Disney XD, picking up where the 2014 animated film left off, with Hiro adjusting to life as a student at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology.

Based on a lesser-known Marvel comic, the film was both a critical and commercial success. It won the Academy Award for Best Animated Picture in 2014 and was the third highest-grossing film in Disney history, earning more than $657 million worldwide.

The film's television counterpart will be in good hands as its executive producers, Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley, are the minds behind Disney Channel series "Kim Possible," which ran from 2002 to 2007.
