Bigg Boss Season 5’, which debuted on Colors on October 2, 2011, has opened with a TVR of 4.3 as per TAM data. This number is much lower to the opening rating of 6.01 TVR (C&S 4+, Market - Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata), the highest ever opening for the reality show, for the Season 4. This was despite the first episode clashing with the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Delhi last year.

To up the entertainment quotient this year, Colors has roped in two Bollywood favourites Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt as hosts for ‘Bigg Boss Season 5’.

TAM data for Week 41, 2011, shows Colors’ TVR climb up to 255 as against the TVR of 205 in the previous week. The channel is placed second amongst the Hindi GECs.

Maintaining its lead in the genre is Star Plus at 304 TVR, however, the channel has slid two points from its Week 40 TVR of 306.

Sony is placed third with a TVR of 248, a marginal dip from 249 TVR in Week 40. Zee TV lost 15 points to record a TVR of 142 in Week 41 as against 157 TVR in the previous week.

Both SAB and Imagine also saw a dip in their ratings. While SAB’s TVR stood at 121 for Week 41, Imagine had a TVR of 66. Star One saw no change in its TVR, which remained at 33, while Sahara One slid 2 points to 34 TVR in Week 41.
