MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court has granted a stay order on the implementation of digital addressable system (DAS) Phase III in Maharashtra.
The matter has been posted for hearing on 1 February.
Citing a Supreme Court judgment, the HC said that a stay granted by one high court on a central notification would be applicable to other states as well.
With the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad having granted a two-month extension in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the same will be applicable across India, the HC ruled. Incidentally, the High Court of Sikkim has also granted 12-week stay on DAS implementation.
Petitioner Nashik Zilla Cable Operator Association (NZCOA) had presented the stay orders of the High Courts of Hyderabad and Sikkim to push for a stay in Maharashtra as well, which the court granted.
Earlier, the HC had refused to postpone DAS Phase III deadline while directing local cable operators (LCOs) and multi-system operators (MSOs) to execute draft model standard interconnection agreements within two days.
Await detailed report …
