London, Aug 29 : British public-service private television, Channel 4, is likely to spark outrage by airing a controversial comedy film about Muslim suicide bombers as part of programmes to mark the tenth anniversary of September 11.
The broadcaster will show ‘Four Lions’, the 2010 film by comedian Chris Morris, just a few days before memorials are held, the Daily Mail reports.
According to the paper, Morris was looking to create even more controversy by trying to air the film on the actual day of the anniversary, but bosses at the channel resisted this.
Four Lions, depicts the activities of a group of home-grown British terrorists who plan to kill thousands of people at the London Marathon in a terror attacks, but end up bungling the operation.
It will be screened alongside factual documentaries about the emergency services and a reconstruction of Osama bin Laden’s killing, the paper said.
Channel 4 chief creative officer Jay Hunt, who revealed the plans at the Edinburgh Television Festival, said the film would form part of the ‘mix’ of programming to mark the anniversary.
