After Hindi GEC Colors unveiled the ninth season of ‘Bigg Boss’ as ‘Bigg Boss Double Trouble’, the regional channels of Viacom18, which operate under the Colors brand, are also gearing up for the launch of the reality show in Kannada and Bangla.

First up is ‘Bigg Boss Kannada 3′ that will air on Colors Kannada from 18 October onwards. Earlier, ‘Bigg Boss Kannada 2′ aired on rival channel Suvarna TV.

Confirming the news to TelevisionPost.com, Viacom18 EVP and project head of regional channels (Colors Bangla, Colors Kannada and Colors Odiya) Ravish Kumar said that the show would air in the 9 pm band on Colors Kannada and actor Kichcha Sudeep would continue to host the show.

The channel has been airing the promos where Sudeep sings a song to sum up the show. OLX will be the title sponsor for the season, and the team is presently in the process of locking in four to five associate sponsors. ‘Bigg Boss’ has really helped bolster Colors Kannada’s ratings.

In an earlier interaction, Kumar had told TVP, “When we took over ETV Kannada, the equity was very strong and it was the foundation for us to build on. That’s when we introduced ‘Bigg Boss’ in Kannada market with Sudeep as anchor.

That worked very well for us and also signalled a change in the market.”

However, the cost of ‘Bigg Boss 1′ proved to be a deterrent for the channel. As a result, it decided to let go of the format, which was picked up by Suvarna TV for a second season.

Meanwhile, after a gap of over a year, Colors Bangla is gearing up to unveil the second season of the reality show. In 2013, the channel had aired the first season of the property featuring Mithun Chakraborty.

Unlike the Kannada market where ‘Bigg Boss’ became an instant hit, viewers in West Bengal did not switch their allegiances to the big-ticket reality show.
However, Kumar did not feel that ‘Bigg Boss’ in Bangla was a flop.
