MUMBAI: Comcast has reportedly called off its $45.2 billion attempt to buy fellow cable provider Time Warner Cable.
Opposition was building against the deal. Reports suggested that the US Department of Justice and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) were preparing to turn against the deal after months spent looking into what it would mean for competition in the cable industry.
According to a report by Bloomberg, the increased scrutiny made Comcast walk away from a merger that would have combined the top two cable operators in the US.
