DD Bharati brings viewers art, films and music

MUMBAI: Constantly refreshing its programming, DD Bharati is set to revive itself by offering viewers a mix of art and music programmes along with films from the eastern states of India.

For music lovers, DD Bharati presents ‘Great Masters’ starting 17 November 2014, airing every Monday at 9 pm. Viewers can watch S Balachander on 17 November and Emani Sankara Sastry on 24 November.

To celebrate the birth centenary of Begum Akhtar, the channel will pay tribute to the music legend by airing ‘Akhtari Ki Mehfil Aur Kaifi Azmi’ on 21 November at 9 pm.

In its ongoing Gunijan series, this week DD Bharati will bring Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia in a heart-to-heart conversation with Yatindra Mishra and Kumud Diwan.

The episode will air on 22 November at 9 pm.

The channel will refresh its Indian cinema slot with an Assamese film called ‘Man Jai’. Directed by Moirangthem Maniram, it is a film about the life of four educated, unemployed youths from lower-middle-class families in Tinsukia, Assam.

The channel will air a documentary, ‘Tant’, on the handlooms of West Bengal on 21 November 2014 at 6 pm. Tant is the ancient art of weaving handloom cloth in Bengal.

The channel will launch ‘Spectacular India’, a series of programmes directed by art historian and film maker Benoy K Behl from 23 November 2014 at 6 pm.

The series will commence with ‘The Monasteries of Rinchen Zangpo’, a film about the 108 Buddhist monasteries and temples made circa 10–12th centuries. On 30 November the show will also feature ‘Living on Water’ that will describe the relationship Kashmiri people share with the many lakes and rivers of the valley.

On 23 November at 10 pm, ‘Trailblazers’ will showcase the life of veteran thespian Anamika Haksar.
