MUMBAI: DD Bharati is launching an array of programmes to be aired during September and October.

The channel will launch ‘Indian Imprints’ on 23 September, which is a documentary film by S. Krishnaswamy. It will air at 5 pm with a repeat telecast at 1 am and 9 am the next day.

The documentary was filmed in over 100 locations in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Indonesia. From the first century AD traders from southern India visited kingdoms in these countries, leading to extensive cultural contact. The 18 episode series will present ancient monuments and temples reflecting the ancient Indian impact on them.

The channel will also celebrate the occasion of Navratri and Durga Puja with special programmes.

It will present ‘Devi Darshan’ from 24 September at 10:30 pm and a repeat next day at 6:30 am and 2:30 pm. The show will see a series of dance ballets and documentaries celebrating the festivities of Durgaostav.

DD Bharati will telecast another documentary, ‘The Last Refuge’, on 25 September at 6 pm with a repeat the next day at 2 am and 10 am. The film is an endeavour to highlight the plight of the golden langur on the brink of extinction in the Chakrasilla Wildlife Sanctuary.

It is an effort in general to sensitise people against the consequences of forest destruction and species extinction.

The 30-minute documentary is directed by Goutam Bora.

Paying tribute to Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay on his birth anniversary, DD Bharati will telecast ‘Yatra’ on 25 September at 10 pm, with a repeat next day at 6 am and 2 pm.

In association with DDK Girnar, it will air ‘Maa Ni Chundari Lehrai’ from its archive. The series of Garba presentation will air starting 25 September at 4:30 pm, with a repeat the next day at 12:30 am and 8:30 am.

Digging into its archives, the channel will bring a specially curated programme, ‘Jewels of Hindustani Classic Music’, from 26 September, airing at 9 pm with a repeat telecast at 5 am and 1 pm.

The show will feature stalwarts of Hindustani vocal and instruments featuring Begum Parveen Sultana of the Patiala Gharana, followed by Vidushi Kishori Amonkar of the Jaipur Atrauli Gharana.

On 27 September, the show will present the legendary Pandit Jasraj. The programme is especially curated by Kumud Diwan and Yatindra Mishra to reach out to connoisseurs and lovers of music and art. It delves into the musician’s journey, gharana, their musical genius and more.

The channel will also present ‘Ramayana’ from 27 September, airing at 10:30 pm with a repeat the next day at 6:30 am and 2:30 pm.

The show will be a series of presentation of ballets and documentary on the Ramkatha traditions prevalent in India.
