MUMBAI: Doordarshan is all set to launch a unique reality series on film making titled ‘Chance of a Lifetime’.

The seven episode series will go on air from 29 August, airing at 9 pm every Friday.
Keeping with its objective to showcase genres that are close to reality, Doordarshan has come up with a show that is different from the presently airing entertainment formats.

The series is a reality show based on a film making contest among a handful of creative youngsters.

The show is produced and hosted by renowned sports personality Ashok Amritraj.

For the show, film makers have been selected from India, Singapore and UAE.

Four teams have been made and each team is expected to make movies on UN global issues such as AIDS, Migration, Poverty, Universal Education and Economic Development. At the end of each episode, one Hollywood personality will make a public service announcement.

Each episode will carry a public service announcement on the United Nation’s Millennium Goals made by famous names in entertainment and Hollywood like Beyonce, Nicole Kidman, Christina Aguilera, Stevie Wonders and Antonio Bendaras. The known names in the Indian film industry like Santosh Sivan, Nagesh Kukoonor, Anubhav Sinha and Ketan Mehta will act as the judges evaluating the films made by the contestants in the show.

Each movie will be evaluated critically before one 10-minute film on ‘Universal Education’ is selected for final screening in front of UN officials.

In collaboration with the Variety Magazine, the winning film will get the chance to be a part of Cannes Film Festival.

A senior officer from Doordarshan said, “As far as DD choosing this show, it was liked because of the unique concept and high production value.

Made by Ashok Amritraj who is involved with Hollywood, it will appeal to the youngsters.
