Telugu film industry is going through yet another strike in less than six months. As a result it is shut down again. This time, it is AP Film Industry Employees' Federation (APFIEF), which has called for a bandh. Now, the producers have asked APFIEF to call off the strike.
The APFIEF called the ongoing strike along with the employees from 23 associations after the producers failed to pay the hike. Last December, the Telugu film industry came to a standstill mainly because of the producers, who wanted to reduce the cost of the film by cutting the perks of the actors.
During one such discussion, the producers agreed to increase the salary of the employees, who work on daily wages. But they have not started paying the revised amount yet, which has made the employees' organizations to halt the industry.
Meanwhile, producer Suresh Babu has said that the talks are still on. 17 associations have agreed to our proposal for 32% hike in salaries. But some associations like lightmen, production boys, technicians, women workers and costume unions have turned down the offer.
He further added that they are offering a better package comparatively with other film industries. However, he requests the associations to call off the strike, as the industry is going through a tough phase.
