The Tamil film directors association has sent a circular to its members, asking him to donate a part of their remuneration to the association so that it would help senior members, who are suffering due to various issues.

Says SP Jananathan, the treasurer of the association, "We have requested the directors to donate at least Rs 10,000 from the salary they receive for each film. This would go a long way in reaching out to ailing members."

Pointing out that director A L Vijay has donated Rs 25,000 from the remuneration he received for 'Deiva Thirumagal', Jananathan said that there are directors who are in a position to give some lakhs to the association.

He said that the amount collected for constructing a building to the association was also not sufficient. "We are planning to launch various welfare measures for our members. That's why we are asking directors to donate," he concluded.
