Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the renowned film director, script writer and actor, known for his stellar performance as Chanakya on TV, is presently working on a huge project for Star Plus.
Based on the life and journey of the Hindu poet and saint Tulsidas, the show is touted to be one-of-its-kind on Indian television. The show will traverse the journey of Tulsidas, from his childhood, to the days when he was touted to be the reincarnation of Valmiki, and will take the viewers to his rich heritage of poems.
We hear that Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi has shot the pilot for this magnum opus show very recently. The pilot was shot at the beautiful locales of Banaras and Mumbai. Dr. Dwivedi we hear, will be directing the series, while his wife Mandira Kashyap will be the Producer.
Now coming to the cast of the show, the young lad from Gwalior, Anurag Sinha a trained actor under FTII, has been roped in to play the title role of Tulsidas. Anurag, as we know played the role of the fundamentalist, in the movie Black and White. He has also starred in Owais Hussain’s directorial venture, Pehla Sitaara.
We also hear that talented and seasoned actress Mita Vashisht who was recently in news for being given an unceremonious exit from the Zee TV show Kaala Teeka, plays a prime role in the show.
As per reliable sources, “Anurag Sinha as Tulsidas has given a mind-blowing performance for the pilot shoot. Mita Vashisht will be playing Tulsidas’ mother, and has shot for the pilot.”
When contacted, Producer Dr. Dwivedi rubbished our news saying, “This is wrong news.”
When contacted, Mita told us, “Yes, I have shot for the pilot. It is a huge mega series, by Dr. Dwivedi on the life of Tulsidas from his childhood to adulthood. I play one of the prime roles in it. For more details, you can contact Dr saab.”
We buzzed the channel spokesperson, but did not get any revert.
As for Dr. Dwivedi, he held the position of programming head of Zee TV for a while before retelling Mahabharat with Ek Aur Mahabharat. Later, Dwivedi directed a serial based on Upanishads titled Upanishad Ganga for TV. His noted film works include Mohalla Assi and Zed Plus.
Tulsidas is expected to launch in May 2016, is what we hear.
