Drone Racing will join the likes of NASCAR and Formula 1 racing on the ESPN Network later this year.

ESPN and the International Drone Racing Association (not to be confused with the Drone Racing League ) announced a multi-year deal today that will see the increasingly popular racing sport streamed and aired on various ESPN networks, starting with the 2016 U.S. National Drone Racing Championships in New York City on August 5.

"To go from a first ever, U.S. national drone race to partnering with ESPN for international distribution in eight months is truly a sign of great things ahead," said Dr. Scot Refsland, Chairman of the IDRA.

The 2016 National Drone Racing Championships, as well as the 2016 World Drone Racing Championships in October, will be live streamed on ESPN 3. Following each event, they will then air as a one hour special on another ESPN network.
