BANGALORE: Former Infosys senior VP and
general counsel Nithyanandan Radhakrishnan
has co-founded an advertising platform,
Airloyal, which rewards users with things like
mobile prepaid airtime in return for engaging
with brands.
Its Android app Ladooo is expected to reduce
the cost of customer acquisition and build
loyalty.
Australian technology entrepreneur Zhenya
Tsvetnenko is an investor in Airloyal. There
are two other co-founders — Raja Hussain
and Prasanna Jaganathan. Hussain was
previously a part of the founding team at
Cupertino-based mobile technology company
Roamware. Jaganathan was the head of
engineering in mobile social entertainment
company Funspot.
Radhakrishnan, who also started an
independent legal venture Browntree
Consulting after exiting Infosys recently, said
Airloyal would focus on the Indian market
before expanding to other geographies.
"We are targeting the 15-25 years age group
to drive engagement through instant
gratification by crediting prepaid airtime
instantly to their accounts. About 95% of
mobile users have prepaid connections. The
instant reward in the form of prepaid airtime
or signing up DTH connections for postpaid
users, is a win-win value proposition for
brands and customers," Hussain, the CEO of
Airloyal said.
Hussain said that the global mobile
advertising market is expected to be $18
billion this year and emerging markets like
India have enough headroom to drive
customer engagement on mobile devices. "We
are working on the 1-1-1 proposition —
attract the attention of 1 billion people for
one minute every day and give away a billion
dollars a year," he added.
In the three months since its launch, Ladooo
has registered over 6,000 users daily and has
given away rewards worth $50,000 ad dollars
to its users. Over 30 brands engage with the
platform including The Times Group, Goibibo,
Flipkart, Vodafone and Bharti Airtel.
Arun Athiapan, CEO of bus booking site
TicketGoose, said they engaged with Ladooo
to target students in Chennai and Bangalore
for its user acquisition campaign. "Thanks to
the platform's excellent targeting capabilities,
our campaign exceeded expectations," he
said.
