Mumbai: Sony Wah, the newly launched free-to-air (FTA) channel from Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), is scripting a success story in the Hindi movie genre.

The channel overtook biggies like Zee Cinema and Star Gold to become the No. 2 channel in the genre, according to BARC data for the period ended 19 August. The channel had climbed to the third number spot in the previous week.

Sony’s flagship Hindi movie channel Sony Max reigned at the top. All the top five channels in the genre saw a huge increase in viewership.

Sony Wah’s rise pushed Zee Cinema to the third position. Star Gold and Rishtey Cineplex did not see any change in their rankings.
