MUMBAI: The week ended 18 October held
nothing special for the Hindi general
entertainment channels (GECs). In fact, the GEC
hierarchy remained unchanged for the third
straight week, with only Life OK gaining of minimum
As per TAM data (sourced from subscribers) for
the Hindi-speaking markets, Life OK gained 10
GVMs (gross television viewership in millions) on
the back of Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’ and the world
television premiere of ‘2 States’.
While Sony Entertainment Television (SET)
witnessed a fall of 17 GVMs, other players saw a
marginal change in their viewership.
Top fiction shows
Among the top-watched fiction shows, Star Plus
had four shows (‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’, ‘Saathiya
Saath Nibhana’, ‘Yeh Hain Mohabbatein’ and ‘Yeh
Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’) and Zee TV had three
(‘Jodha Akbar’, Kumkum Bhagya’ and ‘Jamai
Raja’).
Colors once again had two shows—‘Sasural Simar
Ka’ and its latest ‘Udaan’—in the list of the most-
watched fiction programmes. SAB, like before,
had ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’ (6,322
TVTs) in the top 10 fiction shows.
Non-fiction/ weekend shows
Colors continued to rule the non-fiction genre
with top two shows, ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’
and ‘Bigg Boss 8’. The ‘Weekend Ka War’ episode
of the reality show fetched the channel 5,147
TVTs.
The third and fourth places were captured by
SET’s ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (3,385 TVTs) and
‘C.I.D.’ (3,114 TVTs).
At No. 5 was Life OK’s ‘Savdhaan India’, which
clocked 2,683 TVTs.
Films
Life OK aired ‘Kick’ on 12 October, clocking 3,260
TVTs and resulting in a GVT total of 19,995. It
also premiered ‘2 States’ on 18 October, which
fetched it 2,220 TVTs and 14,800 GVTs.
Zee TV aired ‘Holiday’ on 12 October, which got
the channel 1,917 TVTs or 13,483 GVTs.
