Star Plus maintains lead but drops further; Zee TV jumps to No. 2; Colors and Sony lose more than 25 GRPs

India’s top four Hindi general entertainment channels have together lost 74 GRPs in Week 31 (July 29 – Aug 4) of TAM 2012. London Olympics, Northern grid failure and India-Sri Lanka cricket series are said to be the major reasons behind the sharp decline in the ratings.

According to data sourced from TAM subscribers, Star Plus remains the genre leader but the channel continues to lose eyeballs. Zee TV has taken No. 2 seat while Sony and Colors have both slipped one position.

Despite maintaining the lead, Star Plus has suffered a marginal loss again this week. The channel has recorded 234 GRPs this week (last week 243).

Zee TV has climbed two positions up to become the second most watched Hindi GEC in Week 31. The channel has fetched 211 GRPs this week (last week 222).

Sony Entertainment Television has slipped one position down to No. 3 and recorded 206 GRPs this week (last week 235).

Colors has fetched 203 GRPs (last week 228).

SAB TV is the only channel to add a few GRPs in Week 21. The channel has recorded 138 GRPs against last week’s 132 GRPs.

Life OK has recorded 107 GRPs (last week 107).

Sahara One has fetched 34 GRPs (last week 41).
