For 72 television channels that have
completed 10 years of licence terms, the
Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) has
asked for details that need to be furnished for
licence renewal.

The MIB has directed broadcasting companies to
submit details of company and board of directors
by 26 December for security clearance before
the renewal of permission for the next 10 years.
The MIB had issued a notice on 19 November,
directing broadcasters to submit details for fresh
security clearance for renewal of permission for
the next 10 years. Security clearance by the
Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is a prerequisite
for renewal of TV channel licence.

The ministry said that it has not received
adequate information from the broadcasting
companies, which is why it has issued a
reminder.

The renewal of permission is pending for as
many as 72 channels that have completed 10
years of licence term. The list includes channels
from ZEEL, NDTV, Times Television and ETV
Network.

The MIB has sought details about company and
board of directors along with all supporting
documents (such as proof of date of birth,
parentage, nationality, address proof, etc.) for
further processing.
