The Jammu and Kashmir government Tuesday said that the digitization of television cable network in all the municipal and urban areas of the State would be pursued with all seriousness and under a definite action plan.

This was decided in a meeting of officers chaired by Principal Secretary, Information Department, B. B. Vyas. All the Deputy Commissioners of the State attended the meeting via video conference.

Addressing the meeting, Vyas advised all the Deputy Commissioners to draw up a plan of action for switch over of present analogue cable distribution in their districts to the digital system. He advised them to hold regular meetings with Local Cable Operators (LCOs) and Multi System Operators (MSOs) and send periodic feedbacks to the Authorised Officer for the State.

Vyas also asked the District Magistrates to ensure disposal of complaints about the content, quality, distribution or pricing of cable networks with speed and keep the Government apprised about it by dispatching quarterly reports for onward submission to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

Earlier, Director, Information, Mukhtar ul Aziz briefed the meeting about the objectives of switch over to DAS and the issues, timeline and plan of action connected with it.
