1983 American media was one of the strongest media hold in entire world .
More than 50 big media networks ruled the television space.
But after 36 years due to migration of audience from satellite to digital and merge happening it has reduced to 4.
They are
1. Disney entertainment( include Fox)
2.Comcast Universal
3. AT&T ( Turner)
4. Viacom-CBS

in further it may even reduce to only 2 media

This is going to happen in India very soon because TRAI made everything so expensive

2020 will be considered as black era of American satellite network.
Many cartoonist predict RIP cable in US by 2025

This is going to happen in India very soon because of TRAI's new Tariff Rule.
It's tv network nowadays to be blamed. Star doesn't air any sports which is not cricket properly. Sony doesn't air repeats of their flagship shows on their SD channels. English entertainment channels speeds up shows and movies to fit more ads. SNL episode on Comedy Central ends within an hour with ads. Mind you the same episodes are atleast 70 minutes. And the ongoing repeats of TMKOC, Crime Patrol, Man vs Wild etc. since years is killing interested in TV when there is so much available to stream. It's not 2015 anymore. Almost everybody has access to internet. If Indians weren't distracted using WhatsApp, Facebook, Tik Tok etc. TV networks would be doomed by now. Even we got 3 TV's in our house we only use one single connection as nobody watches anything nowadays.

But whether the channel count is also reduced or only networks are reduced? If its channel count then it's not good.

The downfall is because no one really watches crappy soap operas in U.S whereas in India there's still a large audience for it. In U.S cable tv is way too expensive so what they do is subscribe to Netflix, Hulu & HBO for shows and for sports they can either go with iptv since their internet is stable and fast or else subscribe to other OTT services for it. This will still cost them half of what cable will and the benefits of watching it at anytime they want.

In India it will happen too once there is no demand for crappy soap operas. I don't see people of todays generation watch it anyway. People didn't know what GOT or Breaking Bad was few years back and now almost everyone says its their favourite. Demand for good content is growing in India and thats why there are shows like sacred games and mirzapur! The only reason to have DTH/cable for me is sports which definitely looks good on big screen but Star is ensuring that those who don't watch cricket will suffer. Someone needs to show them the middle finger asap or they will ruin sports for good.
