Hathway to launch HD service in June

Hathway Cable & Datacom is set to launch its Hi-Definition (HD) service in June in Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

The multi-system operator (MSO) will then roll out the HD service to subscribers across its network.

Enabled providers by Media Highway set-top box software, the service will be navigated through an user interface with an electronic programme guide (EPG) and enhanced features. The technology in use are NDS for the CA & Middleware, Ericsson for bandwidth efficient high performance video compression and Kaon Media for the STBs powered by Broadcom & ST Micro chipsets.

Said Hathway Cable & Datacom managing director and chief executive officer K Jayaraman, "The HD box, designed exclusively for Hathway, is unique and has 5 times better picture quality with highest screen resolution at 1080×1920, 16:9 aspect ratio & HDMI output for High Definition elevisions."

"The box also has 256 MB super fast processor for crystal clear picture quality and one of the best audiovisual experiences. The world class compression solutions from Ericsson has greatly assisted us in launching new services with advanced features for a superior viewing experience to satisfy our existing customers and attract new subscribers," Jayaraman further added.

Added NDS India country head and general manager Jayant Changrani, “We are extremely positive about Hathway’s continued growth in the coming years as we enable them to deliver on the promise of digital pay-TV and provide advanced features and value added services. This development reaffirms NDS and Hathway’s commitment towards leading the Indian cable TV industry beyond digitisation."
