The Delhi High Court has directed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to inform to the court about their guidelines in relation to the rights of the broadcasters who have been granted permission to air the cricket matches across the world.

Justice Gita Mittal directed senior counsel Amit Sibbal, appearing for BCCI, to give by 15 September details regarding the rights and the time sharing rights of TV channels in relation to the broadcast of cricket matches.
The court was hearing a petition filed by Neo Sports Broadcasts Private Limited alleging that TV channels which have been granted re-telecast rights by it are consuming more time than allotted to them.

Justice Mittal also directed all the TV channels against whom the complaint has been filed to try and settle the matter amongst themselves out of Court and inform him on the next date of hearingNeo Sports had filed an injunction suit against various independent agencies saying that they be restrained from infringing its copyright and broadcasting reproduction right, alleging of unfair competition. Neo Sports also sought damages.

Neo Sports, represented by Pratibha Singh and Siddharth Chopra, claimed that it has the sole exclusive rights and has been authorised by BCCI to telecast, broadcast and communicate to the public the matches held under the aegis of the BCCI and no third party is entitled under law to interfere or infringe the exclusive rights granted to them.

Besides others, Independent News Service and Nimbus have been named as respondents in the petition.
