Max's biggest premier of the year were a failed attempt of Bahubali and a self abusing addict over Star's family friendly sitcom and Zee's diverse content.3 from Star Gold and 2 from Zee Cinema. This time no Sony Max..!
No doubt Sony Max's premiere (Kabir Singh) is an awful and highly misogynist film but it grossed ₹250 crore domestically. Housefull 4 and Total Dhamaal are far worse than Kabir Singh with their crass plotless comedy. It seems the audience prefers to watch comedies for TV premieres compared to thrillers which is why Kabir Singh did not enter the top 5 premieres. Or perhaps Star Gold has better marketing.
Kabir Singh is an A rated film except for Wanted (being A rated and also being a hit on TV) many A rated films on TV have fallen flat. This year Sony surely has better films eg Pagalpanti, Marjaavaan, Pati Patni Aur Woh, Jai Mummy Di, Street Dancer 3D and these will surely achieve expected ratings
KGF surely has been the no1 film for Max since it's premiere. Plus all these films except 2.0 were afternoon premieres. And Housefull 4 achieved high ratings because it was telecasted 2 months after it's theatrical release without airing it in digital
It was released on digital prior to tv.
But they hardly promoted it on digital. All Star films in this list eg Total Dhamaal , Luka Chuppi (Jio-Netflix), were not promoted digital release before there tv premiere. Hotstar promoted digital releases like Chhichhore, Super 30 before their premiere on TV but Housefull 4 was not (in this case the reviews matter)
