IBN7 strengthens its on-air talent line-up

One of India’s most seasoned journalists, Sumit Awasthi, makes a comeback on IBN7 with a special show on 100 Days of Modi Government; Akash Soni also joins the channel to further strengthen its anchor line-up.

Awasthi, has joined IBN7 as Deputy Managing Editor, after a short stint as Resident Editor, Zee Media. He has worked with some of the leading news brands in the country, anchoring some of the most watched shows in the Hindi News genre. His forte has been political reportage, but he has also covered cricket and international affairs extensively.

He is the recipient of News Television Award 2012 for ‘Best Anchor’ and Madhavji Jyoti Puraskar for ‘Best Journalist’.

The channel’s line-up of anchors has received a further boost with Akash Soni joining the team. Soni has over 18 years of experience across TV, radio, print and online media. His expertise is in the realm of Indian politics and international affairs, especially reporting from conflict areas.

He has worked with leading news channels in India and abroad, including BBC World Service, London.

IBN7 as a channel has historically stood out for its credibility, accuracy and the quality of its political coverage. This lineage, pedigree and capability of the channel will be enhanced enormously with Sumit Awasthi and Akash Soni joining Team IBN7, said a communication from the channel.
