Airtel digital TV, DTH service by Bharti Airtel, becomes the first DTH player in India to offer a unique rural interactive service with the launch of iKisaan. The interactive service, specially designed in Hindi, targets the rural population residing in states of Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand. The company says its digital TV customers in these states can get real time access to crop information, relevant agri-input prices of seeds and pesticides, weather information and localized farming advisory, all of which is specific to their district. iKisaan is India’s first TV interactive application for farmers. The service is powered by Handygo and aggregates content from authentic repositories that provide authentic localised information on crop, agri-input prices and information on weather. A few clicks of the remote give farmers access to valuable information. Press iTV on from your remote and select iKisaan from the menu to access the iKisaan application. iKisaan: Airtel offers unique rural interactive service Access the following farming info from the main screen: Mandi ke daam: Crop prices. Get the Minimum, Maximum and Modal price of crops, in the three mandis of your district. Crop prices will be provided by Agmarknet. Kharid ke daam: Commodity prices. Get the latest price of commodities in your district. Commodity prices are for the products of Dhanuka Agritech Ltd. Mausam: Weather information. Know what the weather is going to be like in the next two days. Get updated weather information. Weather information will be provided by Indian Meteorological Department (Ministry of Earth Science, Govt of India). Kheti salahkar: Localized farming advice. Get customized farming advice from experts. Farming advice will be provided by Indian Meteorological Department (Ministry of Earth Science, Govt of India). With over 60% of our customers coming in from rural areas, applications like these will create a stronger connect with our customers.” Airtel digital TV currently has 6 interactive services – iLearn, iNews, iDarshan, iGoodlife, iAstro and iKisaan. iLearn is priced @ INR 10/month, iDarshan @INR 15/month and iGoodlife @INR 10/month. Customers can avail these iKisaan services with no additional cost for the first month from launch. Above all this application is extremely user friendly and requires the user to just click a few buttons to lay their hands on the desired information.
