India´s metro seeds average of 8 thousand DTH STBs and 50 thousand cable STBs per day

With digitization gearing up in the four metros of India, an average of 8 thousand DTH boxes are installed per day which is increased from an average of 2 thousand boxes per day a few weeks back. The average number of cable STBs seeded have reached to almost 50 thousand boxes per day.
Indian Ministry is closely tracking the digitization status in phase I zones that includes four metros and have declared that the cable TV households are 85% digitized. Considering both DTH and cable, the digitization will go up to 90%.
According to the Ministry, Mumbai is 100% digitized while Delhi has achieved 88%, Kolkata´s digital television households have increased to 82%, where as Chennai lags with 61% cable TV digitization. Due to the mandate digitization in metros nearing its sunset dates there are steep increase in STB installations.
