The Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) has raised concerns over Nepal’s proposed Bill to make foreign broadcasters air their channels without advertisements.

According to the Business Line report, the foundation has written to the Indian ministry of information & broadcasting (MIB) and External Affairs Ministry (EAM), stating that it is not commercially viable for its member broadcasters to have a separate clean feed (without ads) specific to Nepal. A delegation of Indian broadcasters has also approached various stakeholders in Nepal earlier this month.

Indian broadcasters see red as Nepal pushes for ad-free foreign channels: Report - TelevisionPost: Latest News, India’s Television, Cable, DTH, TRAI

These channels already have separate feeds like for UK, Europe, Middle East etc. where they don't have same ads as in India or have ads of local companies.

Why not have a feed for Asia (specially for Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Pakistan). They can earn money by selling these feeds to DTH/Cable operators of these countries and by having ads from these countries.

Yes, It is very difficult because of illegal sale of STB/Receivers of Indian DTH in these countries but can be done.

This is a great move , but would be little difficult in implementation . Similar move should be made in India for our tv channels with modified rules which talks about limited ad breaks on paid channels .

By selling the feed to Cable/DTH Operators in Nepal. Also they are banning foreign ads but channels can air locally made Nepali ads of Nepali products.

Here: "The basic thrust of clean feed policy is that foreign advertisements are not fed to the people. In fact, most of such advertisements have no relevance at all in Nepal. If foreign channels want to broadcast advertisements, they should come to Nepal and make advertisements in the Nepali language in a local setting. They should also use the local media and resources. This provision would generate revenue and create employment. Artists, publication houses, recording studios, shooting studios, the people and even the government can reap benefit from this provision."
