Kairali Arabia, the dedicated Middle East band of Kerala’s television channel Kairali TV, will go live on February 12, 2015, it was announced at a Press conference held at Grand Hyatt Dubai on Sunday.

Actor Mammootty, who is also the chairman of Malayalam Communications Ltd — the parent group that owns Kairali TV, People TV and WE TV — announced the launch of Kairali Arabia and also unveiled its logo.

Mammootty said Kairali Arabia is dedicated to the Middle East region, which is home to millions of Malayalis, particularly in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. He said the channel will primarily focus on highlighting the talents in the region.

Kairali Arabia will feature a diverse bouquet of content, all tailored for audiences here, including arts, cultural, entertainment, news and sports based programmes.

Mammootty said Malayalis form one of the most significant consumer groups in the region, with several of them with high disposable incomes.

John Brittas, managing director, said Kairali Arabia will be available on eVision and will replace the existing Kairali TV channel. “We will bring an exciting diversity of news and entertainment without diluting the essence of Kairali TV that has made us one of the leading television channels in India.”

He said hourly news bulletins will be a highlight of Kairali Arabia, given the importance that Malayalis place in following news and keeping up-do-date with happenings not only in Kerala, India and the Middle East, but across the world.

The Press conference was attended by V.K. Ashraf, director; E.M. Ashraf, Director, News and Programmes (Middle East ); and S. Ramesh, general manager, marketing (Middle East).
