Rivalry over competing soaps is passe.
TV channels vying for that shrinking pie of viewership are now gunning for the cerebral. While KBC with Big B returns for its fifth season on August 15, a rival channel is going live with the country's longest running school level quiz show, the Bournvita Quiz Contest, which will go on air a day earlier.
Hosted by quiz master and Mamata Banerjee's trusted lieutenant Derek O Brien, the show will stick to its tried and tested format, but will go Hinglish this time with Shaumya Tandon (of Jab We Met fame).
The last season of BQC had Mumbai beating Kolkata in the grand finale, in the presence of a beaming Aamir Khan as the chief guest. But if initial reports are to be believed, the defending champs may just have a tough time retaining their title, what with the show being shot entirely in Kolkata.
