Less Wins Tata Sky Packaging Project for Set Top Boxes

Gurgaon‎, India 12th Feb 2013 - The Less Packaging Company (Less) has secured its first project with Tata Sky for its business in India. Less will work with the satellite TV giant to develop innovative packaging for its range of set top boxes, which are distributed widely across the country.

"It is vital that our set top boxes arrive at our customers’ homes in perfect condition no matter how long the journey. This means there is no hassle of returns and an excellent brand experience for our customers, which in turn means lower support costs and a feel-good factor for us. In addition we expect the new boxes to be more material-efficient than the previous designs. This will deliver an additional cost saving for us and less packaging for the customer to recycle.

“Less was a natural choice of partner due to its global packaging expertise and in-house packaging design and development facility here in Gurgaon. We are looking forward to working together to build a better packaging" said Rajaneesh Chaubey, Senior Technical Manager from Tata Sky.

Adrian Cox, Co-Founder of Less, adds: “This is an exciting opportunity for us to be working with such a prestigious and high profile brand. Set top boxes represent a new product category for Less, so we feel particularly passionate about improving the packaging. Tata Sky also likes our approach to pre-cycling: using foresight rather than hindsight and designing waste out of packaging and the supply-chain”.

Less’ Indian office has been working on a range of international projects since its launch in Gurgaon four months ago. It has invested over £100,000 in computer-aided box optimisation software, hardware and testing equipment to provide the latest technology available in developing high-performance display and transit packaging.

About The Less Packaging Company
LESS was founded in 2010 and has grown to become a leading packaging optimisation consultancy focused on removing waste from packaging and the supply chain. It employs 20 talented people globally and already has profitable operating companies in London, Hong Kong and Delhi.

Whilst we understand the packaging market, we are much more interested in the position of our clients and their need to reduce the amount of packaging they use. As well as helping our clients to ‘pre-cycle’ their packaging by designing waste out of their supply chains we also reduce their impact on the environment.

Our business is independent of any manufacturing operation, unbiased in terms of raw material and motivated by our clients’ objectives and goals.

So, the old adage ‘less is more’ has become the newest approach to the world of packaging.
