Have you ever been to a place where blood is cheaper than water and brides are cheaper than cows? Where women are forbidden? Where children pick up guns before milk bottles? There is one such place – Berahampur where tyranny is the only mercy and the unaware realities of a society still prevails.
Life OK will bring to viewers all the drama from Berahampur in their new mega fiction show ‘Ghulaam’. The show will air from 16 January at 9 pm.
Get ready to experience first time on Indian television a drama series that will bring alive the city of Berahampur – the crime capital of India. A country in itself, another India within India where we see unlimited money, power, force and total debauchery. No father would let his daughter marry anyone from this land. Women in particular have no opinion on matters of the house or town, they are treated as mere commodities.
Produced by Saurabh Tewari in association with Life OK, ‘Ghulaam’ aims to focus on the life in Berahampur, especially the atrocities meted out to women and focus on the men who rule the land.
The star cast shall bring alive realities on reel. Lead protagonist Rangeela played by Param Singh said, “Despite been set in modern India, the task was to take audiences by surprise with the realities and terrifying rules of Berahampur. It is a very challenging role for me as it involved a lot of action along with being true to the diction and the character. This show definitely widens Hindi GEC category by going beyond kitchen politics and creating content for male inclusive.”
Added Tiwari, “The casting, screenplay, locations, production design will be of a quality that will surely set it apart from what’s seen on television today and match up the levels of today’s films. We started work six months ago on the show and are happy to finally show our hard work to the audiences as this show has been special.”
The intense and dark story is written by Rahil Qaazi who has also penned movies like ‘Do Dooni Chaar’ and ‘Ekees Topon Ki Salaami’. Being a crime capitol, there would be a lot of action sequences and celebrated Indian stunt director Amar Shetty has been roped in. He has been associated with more than 200 films including ‘Happy New Year’, ‘Om Shanti Om’ and recently ‘Mohenjodaro’.
