Pranav Mohanlal to train in parkour for his debut...

Next year would see the much-anticipated debut of superstar Mohanlal's son Pranav as the lead actor in director Jeethu Joseph's movie. Not much is known about the elusive Pranav but we learnt from Mohanlal himself that the young actor is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that his debut film has enough to please the audience as well as push himself.
"Pranav has to learn parkour for the movie. So, he's thrilled about that," Mohanlal told Kochi Times. Parkour is a form of acrobatic physical training that involves one crossing obstacles by running, climbing, jumping, rolling and swinging. Parkour techniques have been featured in action scenes of Hollywood movies such as District 13, Casino Royale, Bourne Ultimatum and Prince of Persia.

"For Pranav, the basics of Parkour would be easier than for most people as he is used to gymnastics, skydiving and rock climbing," says Mohanlal. "In fact, even now he does gymnastics. So, he has that fluid body language that will help him learn parkour. I think that's why he chose this movie as he might have felt it suited his skills."

The superstar explains that Pranav, who had won a State Award as a child artiste in 2002, had got offers from Tamil and Hindi as well for his debut. "But he's more comfortable working with Jeethu as he has assisted him in two movies. The film also has a different subject," says the actor, who was part of three superhits this year - Janatha Garage, Oppam and Pulimurugan.
Ask him if there is pressure on Pranav because he's a superstar's son, and Mohanlal says, "There might be but I don't pressurise him more by asking him about it. Just because he is Mohanlal's son doesn't mean he can act. That's something he has to prove for himself. When I was his age, I had already done Rajavinte Makan. Now, he's starting out and let him do what he can."
Mohanlal, whose next release will be Munthirivallikal Thalirkumbol, says it's ultimately the audience who will decide the fate of an actor. "It's not enough that you act in a movie - if it has to work, the audience should like it," he says. "The only way I can help is produce a movie or two for him; being accepted by the audience is beyond our control. Many talented actors have come into this industry and in spite of their best efforts, haven't been able to win over the audience. If Appu (Pranav) can be successful, that's well and good. If not, he will move on to something else."

Here Is What Vineeth Sreenivasan Has To Say About Playing National Anthem In Theatres...

Recently, the Supreme Court had made it mandatory to play the National Anthem in theatres, before starting the feature presentation. This order did receive mixed reactions from various parts of India.
Film-makers and actors did come out to express their views regarding the same. Now, prominent actor-director Vineeth Sreenivasan, has come up with his views on the same.

He opened about his views in Meet The Press programme which was held at Kottayam Press Club in connection with the upcoming film Aby, in which he does the titular role.

Vineeth Sreenivasan opined that this new rule would challenge those people who make small films of lesser duration. He also added that anything outside the story element would add to the length of the movie, which in turn might affect small films, especially if there comes a situation when a film has to be edited due to running time issues.

The actor-director also stated that audiences would be ready to spend more than 3 hours to watch superstar movies, but other movies might get affected if the duration is more. Vineeth Sreenivasan also affirmed that he is a true patriot and respects the National Anthem.

Marupadi Movie Review...
1f875745bb44b139a216b2abf6cfc9f6.jpg

Review:
With its fair share of pitfalls and loopholes, our legal justice system has been existing in our midst, to make important decisions on people lives, for long. When women are at its receiving end, the system gets a lot more skewed. Marupadi, a film by V M Vinu, typifies such a frightful situation, demanding some scary answers and solutions if any.

Sarah (Bhamaaa), an orphan, is happily married to banker Aby (Rahman) and has a teenaged daughter Riya (Nayanthara). A career-crisis situation lands the family in Kolkata, where an unexpected turn of events pushes them into a couple of horrendous experiences.

Marupadi is a relevant film, asking the right questions that ring aloud in the minds of most women and parents. It has a storyline that the viewers can sympathize with, and it acknowledges uncomfortable truths about the systems meant to protect us. At some point in time, we might also have come across such instances in real life. All that varies is probably, the degree of harassment for the people at its mercy and yes, the film has its intentions right.

The points at which the movie falters are the presentation and that too, with a handful of ‘cringe worthy’ moments, as opposed to its trailer that gives away the impression that it is a thriller. For instance, the interview scene of the first half - the director’s intention was bringing on some light moments and laughter, but it ends up being too silly and distasteful. Similarly, one can hardly digest the manner in which the ‘gentlemanly’ Aby behaves with Sarah in the car, the first time they meet after growing up. There are many moments at which you also feel that the pairing of Rahman and Bhamaa is a bit too odd and awkward. In the intense second half that mostly holds up, what stands out unpleasantly is a long, important speech. It presents some valid points, no doubt, but the heavy dose of drama distracts the audience to the extent that the focus changes to how theatrical it might get.

Those among the audience who love family drama might put up with it, but definitely not the crowd that’s looking for an edge-of-the seat thriller.

Priyanka Agrawal's M-town debut as a 65-year-old widow...

It was definitely not her stunning looks that landed her the part in her Mollywood debut, says model-turned-actress Priyanka Agrawal, who is acting along with Mohanlal and Arunoday Singh in Major Ravi's 1971: Beyond Borders. The actress has in fact had a makeover to play the part of the demure wife of a Pakistani army officer in the movie.
"It's my first movie and the role is completely different from any advertisement I have done. It's a de-glam role and there's no skin show at all," she says. "In the younger portions of my character, I appear in salwars reminiscent of the girls in the 70s from Pakistani villages. My makeup too is very light as I play a simple, modest wife."

Her next portions though have her in an even more different look. "I play a 65-year-old mother in those scenes, which will be shot later in the month. It's a complete overhaul from what I have done till now," she says.
Despite being a Mumbaikar, Priyanka says that she is happy she chose the Major Ravi directorial for her feature film debut. "It's a small role, nothing much to rave about but I think in the limited screen time I do have, the script has offered enough scope for my character to create an impact," she says. "For instance, there was an emotional scene when Arunoday's character leaves for war and as a wife, I am in bits because of the uncertainty of war. Those sort of scenes also give you room to perform."

The actress informs that most of her portions are with Arunoday Singh. "I shot for a week in Suratgarh, Rajasthan and Arunoday is a gem of a person. He's more experienced than me but very supportive. I hope I get to work with him in Bollywood as well. Also, director Ravi sir was very helpful and considering it's my debut, he was patient with me."
