MEASAT Press Release

Kuala Lumpur, 17 June 2019 – MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd. (“MEASAT”) announced today an agreement with Celebrities Management Private Limited (“CMPL”) to distribute the Travelxp 4K HDR channel across the Asia Pacific.

Based in India, Travelxp 4K is India’s first 4K / UHD channel and the world’s first 4K/UHD
HDR travel channel. It offers hundreds of hours of world-class travel programs from all over the world. Filmed in breath-taking imagery, Travelxp 4K brings the experience and excitement of travel closer to the viewer than ever before. It is produced by CMPL.

“MEASAT is excited to partner with Travelxp to bring India’s first UHD channel to TV
operators across Asia,” said Yau Chyong Lim, Chief Operating Officer, MEASAT. “UHD
content is gaining further traction here in Asia, and the addition of Travelxp reinforces
MEASAT as Asia’s preferred UHD distribution partner.”

two years back, there was a test transmission of TravelXP-4K in 91.5E Measat satellite in C band. it only lasted for 2-3 weeks, as far as i remember. the best thing was that it was available as an FTA during that test period.

So it means that the 4k telecast will be available in India and the subcontinent?

Yes the broadcast will be available in Indian subcontinent. But mostly it won't be a a free to air channel. So won't be useful for the c band users in India. There is only one 4K channel currently available as FTA in that Measat 91.5E, all other 4K Channels are encrypted mode.
Regarding the Indian DTHs, we can't expect a 4K channel currently, in this post-TRAI scheme era. Let's be hopeful and wait
