Well, this is not a big surprise as on our own where DDF where dozens of members are demanding DAS and STB availability we also have people who ridicule others and ask them why we keep blaming about analogue and LCO's and channel quality as if MSO Monopoly is a Prime and poor quality is a Pride.

By 2014,it was planned that all of India will be under DAS. In Kolkata and other big cities ,by the end of 2012,they stopped the analog transmission but they failed to digitize the rest of India even after 6 years after that. In India, people don't do anything until some definitie actions are taken. This cable industry is still lacking funding because of the presence of analog transmission specially in semi urban and rural area. People will not switch to DAS until the analog transmission is completely blocked.

Well this is what we call unfortunate as right in TN capital Chennai which is supposed to be a Tier one DAS City we have strong support for LCO's, MSO's and Analogue (few users DDF post is evident of their reach) and when someone raises their voice for Analogue to end some strong LCO & MSO supporters would ask why should Analogue stop and why do we care about DAS quality, if we worry about quality then why not move to DTH etc.

This is a typical mentality and reply from those who enjoy the fruits of these illegal Analogue transmission.

In India, people don't do anything until some definitie actions are taken.

Exactly. Even in the so called worlds richest nation USA when they moved to DAS they provided the public with coupons to forcibly move towards DAS. But here we have people who not only care about DAS conversion but ridicule those who demands for the same.

Yes, Chennai was infact the first city in INDIA to move to STB via CAS system but when STB was supplied under DAS conversion, DAS quality was pathetic and also several channels were missing while Analogue had both quality and all channels that the general public prefer which lead to STB users moving back to Analogue. Also Analogue is an 100% tax free income (from around 2-3 million subscribers in Chennai alone which is around Rs 25 to 40 Crore in revenue per month) as noone has neither the count nor control over it which is seen as a lottery by the LCO's.

This has a reached a point where the state government has formally complained to the Chennai COP to arrest those LCO's who still transmit on Analogue and seize the equipment's as state sponsored DAS implementation has hit a huge roadblock with Chennai LCO's still transmitting on Analogue so the people are not moving towards DAS.

Yes. Because of this analog transmission, govt is losing taxes. In Chennai, govt own a MSO and they are providing equipments for a cheaper rate and also I heard that picture quality is also nice. People can easily switch.
But the local MSO and Operators will tell like give us 150 rs and we will give all the chanels you need to watch and there we don't have an audit system existing which can bring these malpractice to an end. That's why people think why to move to DAS while we are still getting the years old cheap alternative!
Govt should take a strict and examplary action against this.

Nopes, not Rs 150 but Analogue here is for Rs 120 or max Rs 130 which is over 60% cheaper than the DAS packs and on top of MSO provided analogue channels which already covers almost 90% of the Regional Channels the LCO's will also in is part provide one or two Sports channels during Cricket and Football seasons so would anyone get an STB which is simply costly. Even those who want an STB the LCO would warn that he might change MSO any moment so STB can be bought at subscribers own risk so whoever has money and wants Pay channels will mostly go to DTH and the remaining majority will settle with Analogue.

This was the main reason why the state owned MSO was created so everyone can be brought under DAS and low cost broadband internet too can be offered to the common public at village level at very affordable cost.

But unless Analogue is shutdown LCO's will never sell STB and DAS will continue to be a dream for ever.

quarter of this illegal cost is paid to local politician and even police. While they'll gain zero in digital signals.
So we know this'll continue unless some strict court order comes in.

When is the deadline day for complete cable tv digitisation in Phase III - All remaining urban areas in India?
