After their successful deal to air Game of Thrones Season 6 in India simultaneously as the US telecast, the HotStar app now has another ace up its sleeve to tackle Netflix that has launched in India. Hotstar has added a chunk of major Hollywood titles to its list to beat Netflix, which has a vast library of movies in its kitty.

The Hotstar mix is good, with movies from the nineties like There’s Something About Mary and Home Alone , to recent ones like X-Men: Days of Future Past , The Fault in Our Stars and Taken 3 . The other new movies on Hotstar include all-time hits like Dawn of the Planet of the Apes , Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb , Kingsman: The Secret Service , Exodus: Gods and Kings , The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Maze Runner .

What’s more, for kids, apart from Home Alone, they have Little Miss Sunshine, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and more. For fans of animation movies, there are ever popular films like Ice Age: Continental Drift , The Simpsons Movie , Rio 2 and Dr Seuss’ Horton Hears A Who .

And then there are comedies and satires like Borat: Cultural Learnings of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan, Date Night and Dude, Where’s My Car? to watch.
While Netflix charges Rs 500-800 as subscription, Hotstar began with Rs 199 as charge, the rates for Hotstar Premium being higher.
