New Delhi:NDTV 24x7 was awarded the News Channel of the Year at the exchange4media News Broadcasting Awards 2011 held recently. The evening proved especially triumphant for the channel and its conscientious team as they walked away with numerous category awards to their name.
In the personality awards, Nidhi Razdan was announced the ‘Best Anchor’. The channel was also applauded for its credible and reliable reportage. ‘Road To Jaffna’ presented by Maya Mirchandani was awarded the ‘Best News Coverage–International Programme’, ‘Dantewada Massacre’ by Sudhi Ranjan Sen was declared the ‘Best In-depth Series’ and channel’s signature campaign, ‘Save Out Tigers Telethon’ won the ‘Best Public Service Campaign’ category.
Additionally, NDTV India also won an award for its documentary, ‘Janbaaz Parinde’ in the ‘Best News Coverage – National’ category.
Speaking on the occasion, Vikram Chandra, CEO, NDTV Group, said, “It’s a proud yet at the same time humbling experience to be given such prestigious titles. They are after all a reflection of the hard-work and commitment that we at NDTV have always put in to bring viewers the best of English news journalism.”
The winners were chosen by a jury comprising of the most eminent personalities from the media and TV news media industry. Shekhar Gupta, Editor-in-Chief, The Indian Express was Chairman of the jury. The other jury members included: Adam Roberts, South Asia Bureau Chief, The Economist, Alok Mehta, Chief Editor, Nai Dunia, Amal Allana, Chairperson, National School of Drama, R Sukumar, Managing Editor, Mint , Amit Jain, Country Director, AkzoNobel India, Naina Lal Kidwai, Country Head, HSBC India, Najeeb Jung, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia, Soli J Sorabjee, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India, Sonal Dabral, Creative Head Asia & Chairman Bates 141 India , Suhel Seth, Managing Partner of Counselage India & Founder of Equus, Sunit Tandon, Director General, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Yashwant Deshmukh, Founder-Owner of Communications Consultancy YRD Media Network
