Hello to all the fine folk here, I recently got a soundbar for my living room tv with a binge box, because as we all know tv speakers suck. Since my tv doesn’t have hdmi arc or even an optical out, I have directly connected an optical cable from the binge box to the soundbar. And everything works fine when watching content. I get a “dolby digital” displayed during playback. But the issue arises when we’re done watching and turn it off.
My soundbar is designed to turn off if there’s no input from source for 18mins. But the binge box seems to keep the optical port always alive even when it’s off(red light on the front). Which means the sound bar never goes into standby and is always on. I have also confirmed this as the info button still shows “dolby digital” on the bar, and also the subwoofer has the blue “active” led on always instead of the red “standby” led. Which means it’s connected to the bar.
So I want to know is there any solution for this in my case? I can’t have the soundbar and sub electronics be on for 80% of the day when we’re not even using it, and since only the standby mode is rated at 0.5w consumption, I’m sure it’s drawing more power in this “on” state. If I manually hit the off button on the soundbar, it goes into standby and even the sub immediately does(indicated by red led), but now due to the manual power off, it doesn’t turn back on when input is detected. Have to turn it on manually every time using the button again.
