MUMBAI: A Pakistan TV journalist Yaqoob Shehzad was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Sunday in Pakistan’s Punjab province.
Shehzad was a correspondent with the private TV channel, Express News, and was stated to be sitting with a friend inside an office in
Gujranwala city when armed men came and opened fire.
The victim was hit thrice, killing
him on the spot while another man sitting next to him was injured.
As per reports, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the murder and asked the police to submit a report within 24 hours.
The police has collected evidence and is stated to talk to the injured man once his condition is stable.
They also plan to look into
the journalist’s news reports aired in the past few days to see if he was targeted because of his work.
Shehzad was also the chairperson of the city’s Press Club.
