You mean to say, by keeping in PCM mode, we won't get 5.1 Surround sound?
If you want every little details in sound then go for pcm..if you want cinema like experience go with dolby digital

If I play a 5.1 content (like 5.1 blue ray movie or 5.1 DTH channel) in PCM mode, will it give 5.1 output or not?

First of all, WHY you need to hear every single details of audio while watching TV channels or music?!

PCM is suitable & BEST only for Gaming!

Hi guys
To be clear the settings depend on what you are going to watch? all TV broadcast have DD/DD+ so if your HT/Soundbar has such options then you can select DD/DD+ again if you ask which is better then it depends on the source. if the TV channel like star moviesHD/ HBO HD can have good sound but other indian channels are not that great... also depends on which DTH/Cable provider you have.

it depends on how your setup is... bluray player is separate or is part of HT.
It won't. PCM is 2 channel.

PCM is 2.0 uncompressed/RAW audio. you can passthrough uncompressed audio and your AVR/HT can decode it to DD/DD+ provided you passthrough DD/DD+ as PCM. so in a way.... yes you can set PCM on your player(important part) and your HT can play as DD/DD+.
