A writ plea has been made in the Madras High Court for a direction to the TN government to investigate the loss, amounting to Rs 1,000 crore, caused by the Sumangali Cable Vision (SCV) to the TN Arasu Cable TV Corporation and proceed further in accordance with law.

The first bench of Chief Justice RK Agrawal and Justice M Sathyanarayanan, before which the PIL from J Mohanraj of Nellai Jebamani Janata Party, Mylapore, came up for hearing on Monday, ordered notice returnable by November 29.

Petitioner alleged that several criminal cases were registered regarding cutting of cables of Arasu Cable Corporation in 2008 and 2009.

The erstwhile KAL Cables Private Limited, or Sumangali Cable Vision, had indulged in rampant cutting of optical fibre cables in Coimbatore region from November 2008 to February 2009. The complaints were still pending and there was no action, petitioner said.
