NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha TV is set to be launched around Independence Day. The channel will have a dry run beginning just before the monsoon session of Parliament early next month.
Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan said preparations are on in full swing for the launch of the channel and the work is on schedule.
"The studios, technical staff recruitment and programming models are progressing on schedule," Khan said in an interview.
Though Doordarshan telecasts Rajya Sabha proceedings when Parliament is in session, former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee had worked out a plan for Sansad TV Network comprising both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.
