PICTURE CLARITY
AIRTEL- airtel has bad picture quality now on most channels(for all channels running on both ses 7 and insat 4cr, both old and new satellites of airtel). there is pixellation on many channels which needs redressal soon. although they shifted to ses 7 but they did not change compression rate and same compression is applied to all old channels which were also their on insat 4 cr as airtel just copy pasted channels from old transponder to new transponder.airtel never pays attention to applying proper settings, total carelessness and irresponsiveness to solving issues. its a misconception running in the air that airtel has great picture quality, reality is that airtel has worst picture quality on most channels and those who r buying airtel digital tv plz beware of this point.
TATA SKY- picture clarity has gone down for standard channels in recent times due to having less space and more compression. however hd channels quality is superb and really the best out of all dth operators
AUDIO CLARITY
AIRTEL- audio treble and clarity is good on most channels except for bad audio clarity on certain channels due to improper settings applied. also though most people dont notice it but if u r a avid music lover and love listening to each beat in high pitch music then u will b disappointed as due to high application of dynamic range compression on audio of all channels except star pravah,cnn, hbo, all the high pitch sound effects r completely grounded and lost.
TATA SKY- excellent sound quality with nice audio settings applied give a great experience. its always great sound to ears listening to music on tata sky platform. however beware there r only 3 music channels currently available out of them also only 9xm plays 24/7 music and there r ausio channels which play non stop music for diff languages

AIRTEL- in airtel almost all sports programmes synopsis does not mention mention match details instead it mentions defination of tournament. in infotainment programmes too synopsis does not mention programme details properly. infact suppose there r anniversary special programmes all month on fox history, airtel does not mention details of which programme and what will it show. if it mentiomns about a programme say traveller on fox history then it just copy pastes infoof 1st episode on all episodes synopsis which come after and also does not mention which programme will come under traveller band. in total airtel is poor in managing epg
TATA SKY- best of the best,each match is properly mentioned and programme synopsis r too dot on for what is name of programme and what will episode feature. tata sky monitors and manages epg in a very proper manner.
difference- the only good thing in airtel epg is that it mentions synopsis for kids, music,news genre too which tata sky does not do as a matter of fact that does not affect much as its not important at all unless u want to see diff details of news programmes and music programmes which is baseless
SIGNAL QUALITY
both tata sky and airtel have good signal quality and signal dropages r rare in case of heavy rain or some tech problems.
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
although both airtel and tata sky have good software and hardware but still tata sky manges to score a little high considering the less time taken to change channels and interactive services. many times airtel stb takes ages to load as well as enter or exit services however in tata sky this is very smooth but overall both have good quality. airtel stb has some bugs while tata sky stb is bug free
AFTERSALES
TATA SKY- great aftersales and is known for giving prompt and good response with an excellent solution in 99 percent cases. service charge- rs 125 . warranty given for 1 yr covering all service charge as well as product, no charge will b levied till one year even if product is replaced or engineer visits any no. of times. after 1 yesr charges will b levied according to part replaced
AIRTEL- not so great interms of handling customer issues and many times issues r not resolved as per customer's wish.service visitcharge - rs 200. warranty on products-6 months service warranty and one year normal warranty which means till six months no service charge or cost for stb or parts replacement will b leveid. from 6 months to 12 th month, no service charge will b levied but if stb or any other part devlops a problem, charges will b leveid according to replaced part or stb
RECHARGE OPTIONS
both companies have vast array of recharge options but airtel systems malfunction often so paper recharge is more fesable for it if u dont want inconvinience. in tata sky all the systems work very efficiently for all types of modes of payment at all times. tata sky is best at managing things
HOW U SHOULD MAKE CHOICE
never choose tata sky if u love watching all tamil, telegu regional channels. airtel should b ur choice for it. u can choose tata sky if u r okay with having important tamil, telegu and also like watching english and hindi channels. although right now even some important tamil and telegu channels r missing but they will b added soon when tata sky shifts to mpeg4 in next six months. if u love watching flawless picture quality ,choose tata sky.still if u like watching all regional content and r ok with so so picture quality, choose airtel
if u r from maharshtra,karnatka or to some extent bengal then u can choose tata sky as in these tata sky has a strong hold and main focus in terms of providing regional content.
